It’s been awhile since I updated so here we go:
The past many months have been status quo for me, still taking chemo, still getting only about two “decent” weeks a month. Sometimes that varies +/- a little. Vision still suffers, still have headaches but I try to push through the best I can.
However, my latest scan showed some changes. More blood degradation products and extensive hyperintensities are now seen, which now extend to the mid frontal lobe and adjacent to the atrium. Because it has changed, this latest scan becomes the new baseline for future tests.
At this point, the Doctor believes it is one of two things, postradiation changes (brain damage), or infiltrative glioma.
I knew changes were going to happen, I just wished not this soon. Hopeful we know more after the next test.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!

Update from Ed Warren ~ January 27, 2011
I hope everyone had a great holiday season!
Here’s an update-
I am currently receiving the max dose of chemo now and will do so until August of 2011. The doctors will re-evaluate at that time. I am also on a new daily drug. I’m watching my blood pressure because it is slightly high.
My B12 levels were very low, as brain cancer has a tendency to starve the rest of the body of it. I went four consecutive days for injections and now go once per week. Hopefully they will get to a safe level so I can take the oral supplement. My gout came back with a vengeance recently, boy is that ever painful. I cannot take gout medicine because of the tumor, so I have to deal with it. At least my pain tolerance continues to grow!
My latest scan basically remained unchanged, including the infiltrative glioma. This is a good thing.
On a side note, my social club, WBSC, had its annual Installation Dinner at Russell’s. It was a great time, as always, and they honored me with a “Courage Award”. There were very nice words spoken and it was a wonderful reminder of how the club comes together to help their own. Thanks brethren!
I would like to thank everyone again who has helped my family and I through this very difficult year.
Sincerely,
Ed Warren

Visit Jen Warren's Handmade Jewelry Shop Online!
View Ed's wife Jen's online Etsy-based jewelry store at www.etsy.com/shop/jjsjewelrydesigns. An excerpt from Jen's Etsy webiste is listed below.
"Life was flowing along as it tends to do and then, in one dramatic day, my husband of 12 years was diagnosed with brain cancer. This devastating news was made more challenging by the fact that we have two young boys (7 & 9). Obviously, my life changed drastically, which is a huge part of why I started making jewelry. In times of extreme stress, I find handcrafting beautiful and unique pieces to be very theraputic and even relaxing. It helps to provide me with something else to focus on when the day-to-day of our life feels overwhelming. I often think "why didn't I do this sooner?" but it wasn't meant to be before now. There is clearly a reason why it came to me during this difficult time in my life; I enjoy creating and take pride in my work. I hope you will enjoy my lovingly-crafted items as much as I enjoy creating them. I have recently discovered my niece also has been making jewelry so we have joined together to make it a family affair! Thank you so much for shopping at my store!"

Ed Warren Update ~ December 1st, 2010
I had my doctor’s appointment Monday for the results of the latest scan. Basically, the 3T MRI findings are similar to the previous study, with the exception of some additional swelling in the brain. Chemotherapy will continue now until August 2011.
I have also been advised to lower my expectations on how I will feel and what I will be able to accomplish on a daily basis. I will not feel like I did one year ago.
With that being said, I would like to give a huge Thank You to the Dunkirk class of 1987 and alumni, especially Becky Reed and Gretchen Tuttle, for the wonderful fundraiser they planned this past Saturday.
Being able to see the support and visiting with my old Dunkirk friends, neighbors, and even old newspaper customers was GREAT! The music was rockin (thanks Kevin) and I believe everyone had a good time.
Thanks again,
Ed
